The Game Changer

I don't know how else to describe this moment except as the game changer.

This is a day I will never forget.

The reason it's so memorable isn't just because of how it effected literally thousands of people but how this one moment suddenly changed my life. It's like one of those moments in history when man first walked on the moon for Latter-day Saints!

Everyone I talked to who had decided to serve after the announcement told me where they were when they heard it and how they emotionally reacted to it. Sadly, I didn't hear the announcement in person. I was getting a replacement phone with my sister and brother in-law when my dad texted all of us asking if we'd heard what just happened at conference.

When we found out I remember being shocked.

My first thought was that my brother could now go on a mission this coming Summer. A few minutes later it finally dawned on my that I could go on a mission right. now.

A whirlwind of emotions later I had a growing desire to go on a mission!

By the end of the day I was pretty sure I wanted to serve and the next session of conference gave me that confirmation that I needed to serve.

They brought out the big guns Sunday morning session! Elder Hollands talk hit me like a ton of bricks and I knew that I needed to serve. (If you haven't heard it, you can watch it here!-I'd call this the slam dunk after the game changer)

After I made that decision I realized how perfectly a mission fit into my life in this very moment.

I'd also realized that just a couple of weeks earlier I had started seriously considering going on a mission in about a year and a half. But it still seemed sooo far away! Crazy how those thoughts came and how it all seemed so right!

The Lord watches over us. He knows us and He answers our prayers. And sometimes he does it in the most unexpected ways but He prepares us for it as He prepared me for this time in my life as I know He did for so many other people who are going to make amazing missionaries!
